   Technology

In 2007-08, Covenant began the first year of an exciting technology initiative! Our program is called “121” (one-to-one), as there is a one-computer-to-one-student ratio. As such, all of our students in grades 5-9 have a laptop computer assigned to them for use both at school and home. The school has a wireless network throughout, allowing students and staff internet access throughout the facility. This is an exciting initiative for our school as students and teachers are learning lots about how best to use the tools of our time to engage our culture.

The goals of the program are two-fold:

- emphasize 21st Century Learning Skills, such as collaboration, teamwork, research,
discernment and critical thinking

- use the technology to allow students multiple ways of accessing information and multiple
ways of expressing their learning

In addition, our kindergarten to grade 4 students regularly use our “mobile laptop computer lab” as they participate in computer and web-based learning activities.

As a Christian school, we feel that the technology skills the students are learning are key to their success in being “salt and light” in our world, both now and as they progress through life.
